Ingredients:
6 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon blue food coloring
1/4 teaspoon mint extract (optional)
White sprinkles or edible glitter for decoration
Wooden sticks
Directions:
1. Thoroughly wash and dry the apples, then insert wooden sticks into the tops of each apple.
2. In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, corn syrup, and water; stir over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
3. Bring the mixture to a boil, attaching a candy thermometer, and let it cook without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
4. After reaching the correct temperature, carefully remove the pan from heat and stir in the blue food coloring along with the mint extract if desired.
5. Dip each apple into the candy mixture carefully, tilting the pan to ensure an even coating, and let the excess drip back into the pan.
6. Immediately apply white sprinkles or edible glitter to each apple for a frosty appearance.
7. Transfer the coated apples to a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow them to cool and harden for about 30 minutes.
