Ingredients:
6 small apples
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Red food coloring (or your preferred color)
Wooden sticks for apples
Directions:
1. Completely wash and dry the apples to ensure the candy coating adheres well.
2. Insert wooden sticks into the tops of each apple, pushing them about halfway in.
3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
4. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
5. Carefully take the saucepan off the heat, then stir in the vanilla extract and your choice of food coloring until combined.
6. Quickly dip each prepared apple into the hot candy mixture, swirling gently to coat them evenly.
7. Transfer the coated apples to a parchment-lined baking tray and allow them to cool completely until the candy hardens.
