- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar (plus ½ cup for coating)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium-sized bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and 1 ½ cups of sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring the mixture is smooth and cohesive.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining ½ cup of sugar with the cinnamon.
- Roll the dough into 1 ¾-inch balls and coat each thoroughly in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 3 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden with set edges.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2–3 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
- Ensure the butter is properly softened for even mixing.
- Use the spoon-and-level method for measuring flour to avoid dense cookies.
- Chilling the dough for 20–30 minutes helps maintain the shape during baking if the dough feels too soft.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze dough balls for future use.
