Description

When life gives you bananas that are ripe but firm, why not turn them into a delightful snack that’s crispy, sweet, and oh-so-easy to make? These air fryer banana chips bring together the natural sweetness of bananas, a hint of cinnamon spice, and the satisfying crunch we all crave without unnecessary additives or deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe but firm bananas (peeled and thinly sliced into rounds)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or melted butter
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (or coconut sugar for a healthier option)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Slice the bananas into thin, even rounds, about ⅛-inch thick.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Toss the banana slices in coconut oil or melted butter until evenly coated.
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the coated banana slices and gently toss to combine.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Arrange the banana slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overlapping.
  7. Air fry the banana slices for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they turn golden and crisp.
  8. Carefully transfer the chips to a wire rack and let them cool completely to achieve extra crunch.

Notes

  • Use firm bananas to ensure the slices hold their shape during cooking.
  • If your air fryer basket is small, cook the chips in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • For extra crunch, let the chips cool completely on a wire rack before storing them.
  • To revive any chips that lose their crispiness, reheat them in the air fryer for 1–2 minutes.
